  • Director of Finance

    Matt is responsible for overseeing all aspects of financials for the organization.

  • Director of Development

    Jessica is responsible for all aspects of development, fundraising and donor administration for the organization. She comes to our organization with over 12 years of animal welfare and leadership experience in both the municipal and non-profit sector, including time in Texas and southeastern Michigan. Jessica is also a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and Fear Free Shelter certified, and has a soft spot for the underdogs. Jessica has three rescue dogs, Mason, Mia and Barley.

  • Shelter Administrator/Supervisor

    Sonya is likely the first face to greet LTBHS visitors at the front desk and always does so with a friendly smile. She is responsible for helping care for shelter animals, assisting with adoptions and maintaining excellent customer care. Sonya's favorite part of her job is connecting people with a pet that will be a lifelong companion. She stays busy at home keeping up with her three dogs, Norman, Maple and Teagan. Teagan was adopted from LTBHS in 2014 and Maple more recently in 2023.

    Kyra is responsible for all accounting aspects of the organization.

  • Animal Care Attendant

    Elizabeth is responsible for the daily care of boarding & daycare animals, in addition to greeting visitors/clients and keeping the facility clean.

  • Lead Animal Care Attendant

    Responsible for the daily care of shelter animals, supervising kennel staff, training, and walking dogs. Elizabeth has been with LTBHS for more than 10 years. When not at LTBHS, Elizabeth spends time with her dog, Jolie.

  • Shelter and Community Medicine Veterinary Technician

    Morgan plays an important role in ensuring the health and well-being of all animals in the shelter. As a Fear Free Certified Professional and Maddie’s Fund Certified, she is responsible for health exams, administering vaccinations, laboratory testing and x-rays, and assisting in surgeries for both shelter and owned community animals. Morgan came to LTBHS as an animal care attendant in April 2021 after graduating from Ferris State with a bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine, but soon transitioned to be the shelter and community veterinary technician in November 2021. Morgan is passionate about making a positive impact on animals’ lives, both in the shelter and in the surrounding community. She has three of her own animals at home, her dog, Sophie, and two cats, Rajah and Winnie, with all three being adopted from shelters.

  • Foster and Volunteer Coordinator

    Shannon is the Volunteer and Foster Coordinator at LTBHS. She originally started out as an animal care attended a little over 2 years ago. Shannon's favorite part of the job is finding animals who need special care a foster home where they can be loved while they go through medical treatments. Shannon has one dog at home named Lucy and she is a black lab.

  • Clinic Veterinarian

    Dr. Andreen has over 20 years’ experience in veterinary medicine with a focus in diagnostic and surgical procedures. She resides in Harbor Springs with her husband, three children, cats Guinness, Clementine and Cookie, and dog, Briar.

  • Veterinary Technician

    Makayla is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the clinic including surgery, x-ray, laboratory and ultrasound procedures in addition to general patient care. Makayla has one dogs of her own, Lincoln.

  • Animal Care Attendant

    Emeley is responsible for assisting in the care of the animals at daycare and boarding as well as helping to keep all the facilities clean. In addition, she can sometimes be found at the desk greeting our visitors and clients as they arrive and scheduling appointments. Emeley has completed training in Fear Free practices and her favorite part of working at LTBHS is making the each of the pets feel at home during their boarding stays with us. When Emeley isn't enjoying her time with all of the pups at daycare and boarding, she loves spending time with her best buddy and rescue pup, Daisey-May.

  • Animal Care Attendant

    Ben is responsible for the daily care of boarding & daycare animals, in addition to greeting visitors/clients and keeping the facility clean. Ben has two dogs, Bloo and Skye & one cat, Parmesean.

  • Veterinary Technician

    Rob is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the clinic including surgery, x-ray, laboratory and ultrasound procedures in addition to general patient care. Rob is a cat lover himself and has several cats of his own at home.

  • Animal Care Attendant

    Samantha has been responsible for the daily care of shelter animals, in addition to greeting visitors/clients and keeping the facility clean since late December of 2022. Samantha enjoys working towards making the pets that she cares for at LTBHS as comfortable and happy as possible while in our care. She is Fear Free Shelters Certified and has interests in going into professional pet grooming. At home, Samantha has two dogs, Roxy and Blue and two cats, Harry and Jar-Jar.

  • Veterinary Technician

    Tasha is committed to providing for the wellbeing and health of all animals in the shelter. As a Fear Free Certified Professional, she is responsible for health exams, administering vaccinations, laboratory testing and x-rays, and assisting in surgeries for both shelter and owned community animals. Tasha came to LTBHS as an animal care attendant in October 2022 but later transitioned to be a shelter and community veterinary technician in June 2023, and is currently enrolled in Ashworth College pursuing her license as a Veterinary Technician. Tasha has a strong desire to improve the lives of the animals in the shelter and the surrounding community.

  • Events Coordinator

    Carol is responsible for planning and executing all signature events for the organization, as well as other aspects of development (donor administration and communication). Carol has two LTBHS alunmi dogs of her own named Pickles and Lola.

  • Lead Clinic Veterinarian

    Dr. Zubricky is originally from Colorado and is a graduate of Colorado State University. In addition to her DVM degree, she also has a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences.

    She is certified in Veterinary Acupuncture and is an Elite Fear Free Certified Veterinarian. She has special interests in soft tissue surgery, oral health treatments, integrative medicine and the Human-Animal Bond.

    Dr. Zubricky lives in Harbor Springs with her fiancé, Mike, their two dogs and two cats. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her pets, fishing, reading and crafting.

  • Client Services Supervisor

    Haley came to LTBHS in September 2022 starting as an animal care attendant working in boarding, grooming, and daycare. Haley is now our customer services supervisor making sure all the fur babies at boarding, daycare, and grooming get the best care possible in a safe and clean environment. Haley has received her certificate from the Fear Free Shelter course and is an experienced pet sitter. The best part about her job is meeting and playing with all the new dogs and cats that come to our facilities. She has three cats at home Laura, Herk, and Mouse.

  • Facilities Coordinator

    Dave is responsible for managing the facilities and grounds of the property and various other duties. Dave has two dogs of his own, Kiwi & Reesies.

  • Veterinary Technician

    Allyson is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the clinic including surgery, x-ray, laboratory and ultrasound procedures in addition to general patient care. She enjoys spending time with Opal, her 16-week-old kitten, and in her spare time, she enjoys riding horses.

  • Clinic Veterinarian

    Dr. Dumas lives in Petoskey with her husband, Gary, and children, Heidi and Jack. They have their beloved Shih-poo, Seaweed, cat, Luna, who was adopted from LTBHS, and a loft of racing pigeons. Dr. Dumas has received her “Fear-Free Veterinary Certification”, and enjoys dermatology, preventative medicine and behavior.

  • Shelter and Community Medicine Veterinarian

    Dr. G has been involved in shelter medicine in some way ever since she was in vet school in Virginia. She is passionate about being able to care for animals who need an advocate; that is what fuels her work at LTBHS. Born in the Midwest, she’s also lived in Connecticut and Florida and she spent 17 years in New Hampshire. She is a Spartan. She lives with Gil, an American Shelter Dog from Washington, DC, and Felix the cat, from the Monadnock Humane Society.

  • Veterinary Technician

    Kailey is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the clinic including surgery, x-ray, laboratory and ultrasound procedures in addition to general patient care. Kailey has three dogs of her own, Ace, Beau & Mama.

  • Veterinary Clinic Front Office Administrator

    Nancy is responsible for managing the clinic’s front office which includes greeting and checking in/out clients, in addition to managing appointments and various other duties. Nancy has one pet of her own, a Great Pyrenees, Dozer.

  • Veterinary Technician

    Gillian is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the clinic including surgery, x-ray, laboratory and ultrasound procedures in addition to general patient care. Gillian has one dog of her own, Max.

  • Veterinary Technician

    Ashley is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the clinic including surgery, x-ray, laboratory and ultrasound procedures in addition to general patient care. In her spare time, she spend time with her own pets, Cersei, a five-year-old Staffordshire mix, and Miss Kitty, a six-year-old cat. She is also a mom to three non-furry children, and enjoys outdoor activities and spending time on the lake.

  • Veterinary Clinic Front Office Administrator

    Renee is responsible for managing the clinic’s front office which includes greeting and checking in/out clients, in addition to managing appointments and various other duties. Renee has two dogs, Luna and Star along with two cats, Cleo & Carlos.

  • Animal Care Attendant

    Ashley has been responsible for the daily care of shelter animals, in addition to greeting visitors/clients and keeping the facility clean since early December of 2022. Her favorite part of her job is helping the animals find their forever homes and loving them as her own until they do. She is also Fear Free Shelters Certified. Ashley has two dogs at home, Oakley a super energetic Siberian Husky and Taz a mix of many things into one adorable boy, and three cats, Trixie a beautiful Siamese, Frodo a loving black cat and Ophelia a very playful Grey tabby.

  • Director of Operations

    Sarah serves behavior needs of the organization and as the Director of Operations and is responsible for overseeing all shelter activities/operations in addition to boarding, grooming, and daycare services. Sarah offers training services to the public and oversees the LTBHS Mutts With Manners and Ruff to Ready Programs. She is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Certified Canine Behavior Consultant, and Fear Free Certified Trainer. At home, Sarah has three dogs of her own, Vaughn a black Labrador, Reo a Chihuahua mix, and Ayla a Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd.

  • Executive Director

    Elise currently serves as the Executive Director at Little Traverse Bay Humane Society, where she embodies the organization's mission of compassion and care for all animals and the people who love them. Elise holds a BA in University Studies from Western Michigan University. Prior to her role as Executive Director, Elise held the position of Director of Operations, overseeing aspects of the Shelter, Boarding, Grooming, and Doggy Daycare. Before joining the team at LTBHS, Elise honed her expertise in the Field Services arena as a Cruelty Investigator and the Manager of Field Services at Michigan Humane in Detroit. Elise enjoys sharing her life in Northern Michigan with her beloved Belgian Malinois, Hela, whom she adopted from LTBHS.

  • Clinic Director

    Jen is responsible for all daily operations of the veterinary practice and is a Certified Veterinary Business Leader. Prior to her current position, Jen had 27 years of experience as a veterinary technician and has been with the organization for almost 10 years. When not at the clinic, Jen enjoys spending time with her rescue dog, Finni.

    Lisa’s duties include managing employee benefits, new employee on-boarding, purchasing items for the organization, in addition to managing insurance for the organization. She also is responsible for tracking expenses and works closely with the Director of Finance. When not at work, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family or cuddling with her own dogs, Mama Mia, Tank, and Karma, all adopted from LTBHS.

  • Clinic Veterinarian

    Dr. Nelson is a native to Petoskey. After graduating from Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012 she went on to practice in Detroit & Texas before landing back home. With two small children, it was time to come north to be with family When not at work, she spends her time with her two sons, husband, and three furry cat children.

  • Veterinary Clinic Front Office Administrator

    Samantha is responsible for managing the clinic’s front office which includes greeting and checking in/out clients, in addition to managing appointments and various other duties. She recently moved to the area from Pittsburg, PA, and enjoys hiking and camping. She has two pets of her own, a dog, Kenzie, and cat, Isabella.

  • Animal Care Attendant

    Kayla is an animal care attendant for the dogs at the shelter. She has completed fear free training courses. Kayla loves working with dogs because she enjoys being greeted by their happy faces, learning about training and animal behavior. Kayla has 5 dogs at home, a German shepherd Ronin, a pitsky Thorn, a boxer mix Buster, a brussels griffon mix Geno and a chihuahua Cuddles.

    Robyn is responsible for managing the clinic’s front office which includes greeting and checking in/out clients, in addition to managing appointments and various other duties. Robyn has two rescue dogs of her own, Remi and Otis and two cats, Mabel and Wally.

    Melina is responsible for grooming LTBHS animals and also provides professional grooming to the public. Melina has two dogs at home Loch & Maeve.

    Craig is responsible for the daily care of boarding & daycare animals, in addition to greeting visitors/clients and keeping the facility clean. Craig has one dog at home, Shadow.

    Emilee is responsible for the daily care of shelter animals, in addition to greeting visitors/clients and keeping the facility clean.

  • Animal Care Attendant

    Meet Ky, one of our dedicated Animal Care Attendants. Ky has almost three years of experience within our organization and is responsible for maintaining a clean and comfortable environment and ensuring the well-being of our animals through meticulous cleaning and feeding routines. Ky is certified in Fear Free Shelters and has a special affinity for our feline residents. Outside of work, they enjoy quality time with their own pets - Silvermoon, their beloved cat, and Umaroth, their flame morph crested gecko.

    Kinsey is responsible for donor administration and communication, and assisting with other aspects of development (fundraising, events, social media) for the organization. Kinsey has two dogs named Mookie and Brady.
