February is Spay/Neuter Awareness Month

February is National Spay/Neuter Awareness Month, and we’re sharing information all month long!

Did you know that spaying or neutering your pet can have many benefits, including:

  • By fixing your pet, you are reducing the risk of future medical problems like uterine infections and cancer, and increasing their lifespan

  • Decrease the number of “oops” litters of puppies and kittens

  • Lower the probability that pets will escape from home in search of a mate

  • Reduce some behavior problems, such as territorial marking, aggression, and escaping

  • Reduce the overpopulation of pets in shelters!

Spaying/neutering your pets in highly cost effective, because the cost of the surgery is much less than the cost of caring for an accidental litter. Healthy puppies and kittens as young as eight weeks of age can be spayed or neutered.

Little Traverse Bay Humane Society offers low cost spay neuter through our Harris Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Program. Learn more and donate to the program here.

To book an appointment, please contact LIttle Traverse Bay Veterinary Clinic or fill out our spay/neuter form here.
