Great Addition!
carrie_saundersCarrie has been a great additon to my family. With a little patience, I think she'll be a fine dog.  She has taken to her new home very well and her training is coming along great.

Adopt a Dog

Bourbon

My name is Bourbon. I was found by a family who, unfortunately, was unable to keep me. I love to play with other dogs and I'm friendly with children. I'm only six months old so I have lots of energy. I really would love to attend my free session of dog obedience training that comes with my adoption. If you're in the market for a fun loving family dog, please come meet me.

Adopt a Cat

Henriette

My name is Henriette and I was found as a stray with my sister, Sally. We are both lovable cats who had a home once but for some reason, our family didn't want us anymore. We are three years old and would love to go to a home together since we've already been through so much and have only had each other to rely on.

Pit Stop Program

It’s a sad statistic: 75% of shelters nationwide euthanize pit bulls entering their facility without ever giving them the chance to be adopted.

PitLogoThe truth is pit bulls and pit bull mixes are the hardest dogs to adopt out. Not only do they have a bad reputation, they also have a stubborn personality, which makes obedience training for the average pet owner rather difficult. Consequently, this breed comprises the majority of shelter animals. It is up to shelters like Little Traverse Bay Humane Society to be leaders in changing the fate of this breed.

In response to this growing issue, Little Traverse Bay Humane Society has created The Pit Stop program to decrease the reproduction rates of pit bulls and pit bull mixes. Anyone who owns one of these breeds simply has to visit the shelter, fill out a voucher, and make an appointment at the Pellston Animal Clinic. At no charge to the owner, the dog will be sterilized, micro-chipped and vaccinated for rabies. This is truly a life-saving program and we are pleased to report that we are nearly halfway to achieving our goal of spaying/neutering 200 pit bulls and pit bull mixes.

Please help us continue make a difference in the lives of pit bull and pit bull mixes by making a donation to support this important program.
